The Programme:

Initial Assessment

The client comes to see Dr Eva Orsmond for an initial assessment. Patients who are not on medication for Diabetes or in need of medical supervision can have their initial assessment with one of our fully trained Nutritionists. During this consultation the following is covered;

  • Medical history and current medication.
  • Weight loss history.
  • Current dietary habits and lifestyle.
  • The degree of overweight is measured using the BMI score, for children this is supplemented with growth chart comparisons.
  • Regional fat distribution-measurement of waist to hip ratio recorded.
  • Fat percentage and lean muscle percentage using bio impedance scale.
  • Our weight loss diet plan options explained and a realistic weight loss target set.

YOUR WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAMME

Our programme consists of twelve one-to-one weekly consultations and are suitable for patients of all ages. Children and teenagers need to do the programme with a supporting adult.

At the start of the programme the most suitable diet plan is designed for your individual needs. During the following weekly consultations your progress is followed and changes to your diet are made to ensure the best possible results. Motivation and behaviour modification is essential for successful weight loss and this forms a fundamental part of our programs.

We have a variety of diet plans to choose from. Based on the initial assessment and medical requirements we will advise you on a plan that is most suitable for you. There are typically two main approaches although combinations of these are also sometimes advised:

  • Our low calorie low GI diets should result in a 10% weight reduction within twelve weeks. This diet plan is most suitable for people in the overweight or obese class I category. This approach is also used for over 65's and those with contra indications to VLCKD.  
  • Our Very Low Calorie Ketogenic Diets (VLCKD) are ideal for obese class II and for morbidly obese people. VLCKD offers the advantage of quick, safe weight loss and appetite suppression due to ketone bodies. It helps you break your current unhealthy habits and the rapid results (typically 10% weight loss within 6 weeks) get you motivated. Dieting alone seldom achieves long lasting results.   • Home cooking - we provide you with our own tried and tested low calorie food recipes. 

Follow Up Programmes

Depending on your weight status it may take longer than 12 weeks to reduce your weight to a healthy level. Even when this has been achieved, weight maintenance can be challenging. We offer a number of flexible follow-up programmes to support you in achieving further weight loss and weight maintenance.
