Ireland’s Health Divide

Tune in to Dr. Eva’s latest controversial documentary!

Dr. Eva’s eyes were opened to the shocking inequalities between the different socio-economic backgrounds while filming for her latest documentary Ireland’s Health Divide, shown on Monday 4th of September 2017 on RTE One.

The statistics are cruel. Although Ireland is one of the wealthier countries in the world, the children who are born to poor families are twice as likely to become obese than those who are born to more affluent families. They are also twice as likely to suffer from mental health difficulties and three times as likely to get cancer. Life expectancy for children in low income families is reduced approximately by six years.

In her interview to RTE Guide’s Donal O’Donoghue Dr. Eva says how shocked she was by what they found: ” In many cases, it’s beyond education and simply about coping, a question of survival.”
